I haven't done the upgrade in a while, because I moved most of my boxes
over to Woody about a year ago to take advantage of iptables in the 2.4
kernels, but I remember quite a few problems with X in particular. The
server format has changed quite a bit - X now uses a single server
(xserver-xfree86) and uses a loadable module arrnagement to handle
different video cards. Your best bet for this is to purge all of the X3
stuff on your box, and apt-get install xserver-xfree86 and
xbase-clients. I think this pulls in all the necessary dependencies to
actually run an X session locally. The debconf postinst script does
apretty good job of setting up your hardware, although you may want to
have either the manuals for your video card and monitor handy, or keep
you old XF86Config handy so you can look up resolutions and chipsets.
As for the others, I don't know - I use exim rather than sendmail, and I
don't use any of the others.
HTH, and good luck,
Steve
