[PADS] I want crack

There was this program... some black magic from prehistory, called "crack".
Basically, it's a password cracker, that did some really neet stuff to
increase efficiency. I want to use it to verify that none of the passwords
on my boxes are excessively easy to guess (I swear). This is the most
common legitimate use of this program, I believe.

There is a debian package cracklib-runtime, which is clearly at least a
descendant of crack. Basically, I'm wondering if any of you know, or can
figure out, how to get any debian package to brute force password/shadow
files to verify that passwords are sufficiently strong.

A couple of the really neet things it did were:
* using defines instead of variables and compiling on the fly
* automated distributed processing accross several computers (of a bunch of
  platforms)
