There are procmail recipies available to discard duplicate messages,
using formail, I think, if it bothers you. Ask Google.

I dunno. I'm on more than one other list that doesn't set the Reply-To,
and it doesn't bother me. In a way, it's kind of convenient, IMO, if
there's a copy in my inbox; I notice it that much faster. It doesn't
bother me if there's not, though.

Another handy side-effect for using Mutt's mailing-list features is that
you know right away (via the "No mailing lists found!" error message) if
someone's trying to turn a public Q&A into a private tutoring session.
In fact, because of those lists that don't give you an easy way to reply
to just the sender, I've set ignore_list_reply_to in my .muttrc.

In any case, there tends to be an upper bound on the number of
recipients for a message on a non-Reply-To-munging list, whether it's
via people manually trimming the recipient list or using an
at-least-half-decent MUA.

One downside to a list unilaterally imposing a Reply-To header is that
in those rare cases where it's appropriate to cross-post, the poster who
is cross-posting the right way by setting a Reply-To gets overridden.
There are other reasons, outlined in the "Reply-To Munging Considered
Harmful" essay; the opposing viewpoint is set out in "Reply-To Munging
Considered Helpful" (Google knows).

Oh well. cjf is the admin for this list, not us. :) (Personally, I'd
like to get rid of the Reply-To on PLUG, but that probably won't happen
due to inertia.)
